Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain positive, long-term relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and supported in their roles
- Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to all volunteers
- Conduct tours, training, and orientations for new volunteers
- Respond promptly and professionally to all volunteer inquiries
- Work in the volunteer database to accurately track volunteer profiles, hours, and impact, ensuring data integrity and compliance
- Schedule and coordinate a team of 80+ daily volunteers across multiple programs to help meet operational needs
- Implement a volunteer recognition and retention program, including awards, appreciation events, and personalized gestures of gratitude
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Director to strategize and execute volunteer recruitment efforts, with a focus on expanding our volunteer base for the upcoming opening of a new Today’s Harvest site in Maplewood, MN
- Represent Open Cupboard and Today’s Harvest at volunteer recruitment events, community events, and public speaking engagements
- Support social media efforts to promote volunteer opportunities, share stories, and foster online community engagement
- Create and send monthly and quarterly newsletters for customers, volunteers, and donors
- Work with the Communications Manager to update and create flyers and other materials for Open Cupboard programming
- Assist with other duties as needed
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in managing or coordinating staff/volunteers
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram
- Familiarity with Canva or/and designing flyers and social media posts
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Ability to communicate, motivate, and relate effectively to a wide variety of individuals
- Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to see change as an opportunity rather than an obstacle
- Ability to work alongside volunteers in food shelf operations which may require staying on your feet for a long time and lifting 30+ pounds
- Bilingual Hmong/English and/or Spanish/English is strongly preferred
Compensation: $42,000.00 – $45,000.00 per year
