How You Can Support Open Cupboard

You’re part of the community that keeps Open Cupboard strong. While donations and volunteering are great ways to help, we know that not everyone has the time or ability to help in these ways. There are many other ways you can make a real difference in the fight against hunger.

Your voice, your connections, and your actions can help us reach more neighbors in need to feed our community.

Donate, Volunteer, or Pack Go Bags

If you’re able to give financially, donate your time, or help pack Go Bags for our community members, those contributions remain essential to our mission. Every dollar, every volunteer hour, and every bag packed directly supports our ability to feed our community.

5 Other Ways to Amplify Our Impact

You don’t need to write a check or sign up for a shift to change lives. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is use your voice and your network to spread awareness about the work we do together.

Organize a collection drive at your workplace, school, faith community, or neighborhood. We especially need:

Most Needed Items:

  • Hygiene and amenity items (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)
  • Cereal
  • Peanut butter and other protein, like canned tuna
  • Paper grocery bags

Hosting a drive is a great way to engage your community in hands-on action against hunger. Whether you collect 20 items or 200, every contribution helps us feed our community.

Ready to organize a drive? You can find the best times to drop off donations at opencupboard.org/donations/donation-hours/. If you have any questions, reach out to donate@opencupboard.org or call 651-371-1130.

Bring Open Cupboard’s story to your workplace, faith community, club, or organization. Our staff can share the reality of food insecurity in our community and the tangible ways people can help.

A presentation from Open Cupboard can:

  • Educate your group about hunger in our community
  • Inspire action and engagement
  • Connect your organization with meaningful volunteer opportunities
  • Build lasting partnerships in the fight against food insecurity

Reach out to grace@opencupboard.org if you are interested in having Open Cupboard speak at your organization!

Do you know someone who could benefit from Open Cupboard’s services? One of the most direct ways to help is by sharing information about our programs with neighbors, coworkers, friends, or family members who may be facing food insecurity.

Word of mouth is still one of the top ways people find out about food resources. Your conversation could be exactly what someone needs to hear.

How to help:

  • Download and share our printable flyer
  • Offer to come with them to Open Cupboard for their first visit
  • Let them know there are no judgments, no barriers—just support

Many people don’t realize help is available or feel uncertain about reaching out. Your simple act of sharing information can be the bridge someone needs to access nutritious food for themselves and their family.
