If You Need Food Today
If you need food today, and it isn’t Thursday (2-5 pm) or Friday (10am to 2 pm), your best option is our Today’s Harvest Market that is open 6 days a week. You can come as often as needed to the Today’s Harvest Market.
Drive-up Service
Our Drive-up Service works particularly well for:
- Folks that have mobility issues but still drive. You don’t have to get out of your car, just make sure there is space in your trunk before you come.
- Adults that have their kids along. Kids are absolutely welcome in the Today’s Harvest market, but it can be a busy crowded place and there can be a long wait to get in at certain times of the day.
- Folks that don’t mind not choosing their own food. Food in the Drive-Up program is pre-boxed or bagged. It’s the only way we can serve so many people in such a short time.
Our Drive-Up Service (open on Thursdays and Fridays), provides fresh produce (e,g, potatoes, onions, carrots, apples are common items), meat, milk, eggs or cheese, and a few non-perishable food items.
- No appointment needed.
- No documentation needed.
- You will be asked for your income, but we will serve you regardless of your income.
- You will be asked for your address, but we are open to anyone in need of food, regardless of where you live.
- There is a registration process for this program. You will complete it carside with one of our volunteers.
- You receive pre-packed boxes of food (Today’s Harvest allows you to choose your own food if this is an issue).
Hours and Location
Location: 8264 4th Street North, Oakdale, MN 55128
- Thursday 2 pm – 5 pm
- Friday 10 am – 2 pm
How it works
Our Drive-Up Service is located in the back of the building. You will need to use the cemetery road for our service. There is often a line, so please drive very carefully through the parking lot, follow signage, and listen to any volunteers.
The first stop will be intake. Here our volunteers will ask about name, address, household size (how many children, adults, and seniors), and if the house is income eligible. We will serve you regardless of income.
Lastly, you will stop to have your food loaded into your vehicle. You will not get out of your car. Please make sure there is room in your car. Once everything is loaded, you can be on your way.
Can I pick up for others?
Yes! You are able to pick up food for someone else outside of your household. For every adult in the car, they are able to pick up for 2 households. You will need to know the other household’s information in order to pick up food for them.
What if I have no transportation?
- You can still receive food if transportation is an issue by having a friend or family member pick up for you. They will need to provide us with information about your household.
- If there is no one else that can pick up for you, within a 10 mile radius of Open Cupboard you can request a delivery. Food is delivered one time per month and replaces a visit for Drive-up Service. More information is here.
- If you live in a senior center, Landfall, or Cimarron, check our list of mobile food shelves to see if you can receive food right where you live.
